COLLINS, Helen Bernadette nee Farrell
1921 - 2018
Passed away peacefully at the Woodland Villa in her 98th year. Wife of the late Thomas Daniel Collins. Dear mother of Patricia Beveridge of Long Sault, Catherine Watters (Dr. Kevin Watters) of Beaconsfield, Margaret Ellen “Margie” Collins (Ronald Coldham) of North Vancouver. Special grandmother to Erin Esford (Fred), Kristin Whiteside (Tom), Leslie Bonamassa (Nick), Vanessa Beveridge, Alexandra Watters, Keiran Watters (Soko), Victoria Watters (Stephen Fritz) and Lara McConvey (James). Adoring great grandmother to Ava, Joshua, Kate, Marissa, Adeline, Michelle, Nora and Oakley. Predeceased by her nine siblings. Helen was born in Arthur, Ontario 8th child for Stephen Farrell and Mary Bodendistle. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Guelph in 1945. She married Tom in 1946. They moved to Quebec where they raised their 3 daughters in Lachine. After Tom passed away in 1964, she persued her nursing career in general, industrial and psychiatric nursing for 30 years. She loved to camp, garden and travel. She had a flare for fashion, sewing beautiful clothes and making hats. One of her great passions was entertaining, creating a festive atmoshere with incredible meals and great card games. Her many talents, kindness and generosity live on in her family. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church 8 College Street in Ingleside on Monday from 9am until 10:45am with the mass to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Woodland Villa Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
