It’s was with mixed emotions we said good-bye to “Poppy” Derle Arthur Froats age 85 who passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, June 8th 2020 surrounded by his family.
Derle is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Wendy, his sons Travis (Esther) and Troy (Katie). He was a dotting “Poppy” to MacKenzie, his right-hand man and little buddy Cameron, his morning coffee brewer Cadence and his estranged Granddaughters Emerson and Aubrey Froats. His Brother Wayne (Vivienne), Step-Father-in-Law Carl (late Eva) Peever, Brother-in-Law Earl (Lois) Markell, Sister-in-Law Sheila (late Don) McKenzie, Sister-in-Law Gail (Iain) MacLeod, Sister-in-Law Henriette (late Gordon) Markell, Brother-in-Law George (late Carol) Otto, Sister-in-Law Donna (late Bob) Cottrell, Brother-in-Law Larry (Janet) Markell, Sister-in-Law Cindy (Kevin) Waldroff, Brother-in-Law Allen Markell and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Doris (VanAllen) Froats and his brother Glen (late Carol) Froats.
Derle was a former employee of Courtaulds Canada, Parks of The St. Lawrence and civilian employee OPP Long Sault. Derle enjoyed gardening and golfing, but his favourite pass time was the time shared with his Grandchildren.
Derle’s family give a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful care he received from his Doctors – Dr. Waite, Dr. Reaume, Dr. Weinberg, the care he received while a patient in Winchester & Cornwall Hospitals. His home care set up by Champlain-Lyn Richard Thompson with Bayshore. Special thank you to his regular nurses Lindsay, Sarah, Sandra, and Brian, you were a blessing and also the nurses who came all hours of the day and night when he needed help. Special thanks also to the many PSW’s who brought him a good morning smile and evening of rest refreshing him each day – thank you for your gentle care - Terri, Margaret, Sue, Kylie, Andrea, Maureen, Paula, Amanda, Paulineo, Giselle, Natalie, Colleen. We apologize to anyone whose names we may have missed, but please know we really appreciated all the help we received.
Cremation has taken place and due to Covid19 a celebration of Derle’s life will take place at a later date. If desired Donations in his name can be made to St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church in Ingleside or Prostrate Cancer. Online condolences may be made at www.brownleefuneralhomes.com.
