Obituary for Olive Heasley (Moss)

Olive Heasley (Moss)
HEASLEY, Olive Rose (Moss)

Born, July 27, 1924, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 20th at the age of 97 years with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Fred Heasley (Married 1942), Mother of late Eileen, Ernest (Sue) of Cornwall, Phyllis (late Randy, Noel) of Finch. Cherished Grandmother of Shelley, Jeff (Abby), Kevin (Nathalie), late Adrien, Ryan (Crystal), Matthew (Ashley), Amanda (Andrew) and Sara. Proud Great-Grandmother of 17 youngsters ranging from the age of 2 – 28. Dear sister to the late Henry, Ellen, Victor, Irene, Arthur, Edmund, Alice, Blanche, Ernest, Jean, Harvey, and John. Only surviving brother, Gerald (Hazel) of Hull. Olive was an active CWL member for 75 years. Olive helped Fred with a small dairy farm east of Finch, raised family, was a seamstress, and decided after 25 years to take on a job at the Caldwell Linen Mill in Iroquois. After 24 years, Olive retired to enjoy travelling, gardening and other hobbies such as knitting and reading, and time with grandkids. Fred and Olive took to the road in the ‘Good time Express’ travelling west to Alberta and east to PEI. Olive took great pride in her garden each summer, knitting in the winter and preparing delicious meals for her family. After a traumatic accident, Olive moved in with her daughter Phyllis and Noel, only to experience other joys like visits to the Casino, sharing a glass of wine, shows at Upper Canada Playhouse and frequent shopping trips. Olive enjoyed bingo and met new friends in the day program at Maxville Manor. We would like to thank Dr. Mary Smar for her excellent medical care, Fr. Augustine Obaga for his spiritual guidance, and Ashley, Kelly, Kristen, Debbie and Terri for their kindness as caregivers. Visitation for family and friends are welcome to an open wake on Saturday, March 5th, 9:30 – 11:30 at St. Bernard’s Parish Hall, followed by funeral service in the Church at 12 noon, 56 Front Street, Finch. Expressions of sympathy donations to Maxville Manor or St. Bernard’s Parish would be appreciated by Family. Messages of condolences’ may be left at www.brownleefuneralhomes.com. Spring burial at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Olive was known to many a ‘Grandma’ and will be sadly missed.
