Memory of Tom & Molly
My condolences to Eric, Lois and the family. My husband and myself met Tom many times last winter at the Bird Sanctuary where he placed his beautifully carved bird feeders and fed the birds regularly.
We (my husband and I) first met Tom when he built our back outside stairs with the help of Eric. Thats when we met Molly the dog and fell in love with her.
In the winter of 2019 (I believe), Tom was over helping me dig the ice from my mother-in-laws driveway. He had Molly with him, but she was clearly not well. I offered to go and get my camera to get some pics of her alone and some with him. I did this because Tom would not take any money for helping that day. He said money meant nothing to him. But I knew Molly was his life and he happily posed with her that day. Molly seemed to rally while she was with us that day. She ran around in the snow and seemed pretty perky. I hopefully thought, maybe she would get over whatever was ailing her.
About a week later, I think, Molly passed away. I knew Tom would be devastated so I took over some framed pictures from the day he helped with the ice. He seemed happy to get the photos and I really hope it brought him some solace. He thanked me for them and I left.
Later I could see him walking the neighbours dog around the village. It was probably very therapeutic for him.
My husband and I miss Tom and every time we visit the Bird Sanctuary I see him still with his beautifully crafted bird feeders. Last winter he told me to take one for free. Of course, I could never do that. I kept telling him he should sell them because they were so beautiful. . Again, he told me money meant nothing to him.
Tom had the purest heart of anyone I had ever met and I just know he is flying high with Molly at his side.
Love and Peace to you all. That was what Tom was all about it seemed to me.
*Sorry it took so long to write this. I only now feel that it is possible to do so.
